Before departure
Global process
- Find informations on DRI website.
- Find a university on moveOn, click on the link, and search for courses.
- Be sure to check the language of instruction...
- You identify 3 universities and propose 3 different academic agreements.
- You send them to your advisor along with the links to where you found the courses and their descriptions. Unless there’s a mistake, we’ll sign them...
- But we’ll discuss the plan and what you’d like to do afterward.
- Contact your advisor after reviewing the sample academic agreements on the International Track
Key points
- Basically, you’re looking to complete the L3 program but abroad.
- Generally, you won’t find exactly the same courses.
- Main criterion: being able to continue on to a Master’s program
- Dates:
- California — starting in late September for the following year. Application is important.
- Outside Europe — prepare in the fall; absolute deadline is late January
- Europe — prepare in the fall; deadline is early March
- It may seem easy, but you need to try to understand what our third-year bachelor’s degree courses cover and capture the essentials.
- You have a real choice. Take advantage of this opportunity to customize your education with courses that we don’t offer.
- Don’t overdo it. Don’t try to take every course that interests you.
- Make a note of them in case some are full and you need to switch.
- Generally, a science student takes a course that has nothing to do with their major< (music, theater, psychology, history, etc.). It provides a break from science.
CheckList

Don’t wait if there’s a problem. If addressed in time, there’s a solution.
You’ll often have 2 to 4 weeks to change your course. Do so within the deadline.
After mobility
Lest steps in Bachelor degree
- You submit your transcript to your advisor.
- Your advisor will translate it and convert the grades to a /20 scale.
- Your advisor will forward the translated transcript so that you have a French transcript from Bordeaux.
Continuing in Master’s program
You can often submit your foreign transcript directly when applying for admission to a Master’s program.
Sometimes a letter of recommendation is required. If you got to know a professor well during your exchange, you can ask them for one.
In any case, when requesting a letter, be sure to explain your academic plans, including why you chose this Master’s program and what steps you took toward that goal during your exchange. And, of course, you’ll need to provide a resume and your transcripts.
